There are situations when you may need to capture several frames from a video file, to be used for presenting a review of the video or just for creating a thumbnail for it. The problem is that most video players which offer this feature don't allow you to automatically save several screenshots from your video and in this situation, you need to manually take these screenshots. Still, there is an application which can automatically capture several still frames from any video and save them as regular image file, requiring minimum user intervention.
The name of the application isFast Video Indexer. The name of the application can fool you at first, but after installing and running the software, you will see that the main functionality of Fast Video Indexer is to take still screenshots from videos. The first thing to do is to add the desired video into the program's interface. You can do this with great ease, as the interface resembles the one of Windows Explorer. The program is compatible with a wide range of image formats and supports any video length.
After importing the desired video, the next step is to configure the capturing process. As such, you will need to set the location for saving screenshots and also define the capturing interval. By default, the program is configured to save screenshots every 180 seconds. Having all these settings configured, you can start the capturing process and soon, you will be able to view all the captured screenshots as miniature thumbnails.
Pros
It supports almost any video format and length. What's more, it can automatically take screenshots of the video at predefined intervals. Furthermore, you can preview the screenshots directly in the program's interface, as small thumbnails.
Cons
The program's functionality doesn't seem too intuitive. Using Fast Video Indexer you can automatically take still screenshots of any video.
